Boost Your Memory

Many people claim to have a bad memory. What most people don’t realize is that memory is more like a mental muscle than a natural talent. Memory can be enhanced, developed and improved. In this video, I show Brad Gosse how to memorize a short list of items in under a minute. This was an unscripted video and Brad had no idea what we were going to do.
For someone who claims to have a terrible memory, his results were pretty solid.
Please share some of your memory tricks and techniques if you have them.

Great memory tactic!
I have the reverse problem. Pretty good short term but it’s hard for me to remember things from the past..especially whenI’m on the spot and need to draw that part of my memory sometimes unless I am prepared to answer it ahead of time. 9/10′s not bad though!!!
Yes this is definitely more of a short term memory technique. The only difference between short term and long term memory is repetition. I’m sure you have no problem recalling certain memories from your past (ie how to ride a bike) but you struggle with other memories. My guess is you just need to repeat these things more often….over and over, so that they become more strongly embedded and easier to recall even when you are under pressure.
I suggest you go to the library and check out some books on memory exercises. I’m sure you’ll find some good stuff that helps you out.
Hi Justin and Brad,
I have read about this method before, but it’s very interesting to see it in practise on video. Brad did a good job remembering all but one of the words.
Btw, that’s great that you have added subtitles to the video – how did you do that? It makes it a lot easier to follow the topic seeing the words, in addition to hearing you guys talk.
I’m going to try out this method because my memory is ‘just okay’, but could be a lot better.

Hey Karen,
Thanks for your comment.
Yeah those subtitles in the video are great! Brad did that in youtube. Check out his blogpost about it here: http://www.bradgosse.com/index.php/2010/03/09/optimizing-youtube-videos-for-search-engines/
As for the memory exercise, I recommend you try it a few times a day for a week or 2 and then check how you feel about your memory at that point. I bet you will notice a difference.
really needed those ones, thanks justin
Glad that helped you Farouk!
Cheers
Nice little technique there Justin
