When Boredom Is A Good Thing

Reading Robert Greene has been like a breath of fresh air. If you are not familiar with his books yet, don’t wait any longer. He’s awesome and I think you’ll get a lot from his work.

Today’s update was once again inspired by an insight I got from Robert Greene’s book The 50th Law.

It’s all about the fact that many of us have a lot of empty time now which was never the case MANY years ago when humans had to fight daily for survival. So a thing called boredom was produced. And boredom caused us to look for stuff to fill our time. Namely entertainment.

And this update is about how all of these things can actually be a real problem for those of us with ambitions to make something of ourselves and change the world around us.

    Hey Justin:

I agree we as a society have way to much free time…my challenge has been to keep busy at my online passion and when I am busy I find others don’t have enough to keep them busy therefore they tend to steal my time away.

Since focusing on my online venture the one thing I made a commitment from the beginning was no matter how tough or even easy things became I would not use my leisure time watching TV and so far that is something I have been successful at. Yes I watch the odd show but not during the workday…I will cut out an hour a few days a week for a special program of my choice but other than that….no TV to distract me.
