I don't know if visualisation can change our physical reality to suit what we are visualising. For me it works in a much more scientific way. When we visualise properly with emotion and intensity, our brain, or the way it thinks changes. For example, I do sales and the one thing that i prize above all else is confidence. When I visulalise I become confident, assured and charismatic on the phone. All these qualities help me to multiply my sales.

Recently I went it alone working from my bedroom. For the first 7 months I pretty much was surviving hand to mouth. But then I started visualising a new TV, a new garden and my 2 bathrooms totally refurbished. Guess what? I got some really big contracts and managed to get all those things that I visualised.
Visualisation works. You just have to persist with it.

that's great! but i think "take action" is not necessary in all cases.it depends on your special situation.sometimes "take action" cause the things better or worse!

Wow great comment Ryan. Those are some very interesting examples. This is one of those very personal topics where some people will be convinced it is total truth and others will say BS. I guess each person has to evaluate what they believe to be true

That's amazing that (out of all things) you visualized the recovery of your ring and it came to you. I don't believe it was a coincidence but it was used to show you that visualization works.

I'm sure a lot of people are aware of Cynthia Stafford, the California woman who visualized and meditated about having $112 million dollars to help all her family and all the charities she was so passionate about, she knew and believed that number would come to her and she created an energy inside of her for 4 months with that figure in her head, not knowing exactly how that will come along, but just knowing IT WILL. Flash 4 months later when the Mega Millions hit $112 million, she knew it was a sign and bought only $2 quick picks, and won. She was not at all surprised at the win because she believes she brought it to herself. Subjectively, people could say this was made up but there is no reason to believe that it's anything other then the truth. She has not tried to capitalize on any sort of visualization techniques or books or anything of the sort, she just simply stated that is what brought it to her. Had she started to try and build some empire based on visualization, she'd be called out, but she did none of that and she has indeed used most of her winnings to help the community and the places she visualized giving to. (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/04/01/cynthia-staffords-112-mil_n_521759.html)

The same can be said for Jim Carrey who drove to the top of the Hollywood Hills in 1990 and visualized himself getting movie offers and everyone wanting to work with him when he was just an unknown comic from Canada trying to make it. He FIRMLY believed and say himself getting phone calls with movie offers and he drove through town visualizing himself being sought after. Later (as most also know) he wrote himself a check for $10 million dated Thanksgiving Day 1995. Sure enough right before that date, he signed a movie deal for $10 million.

Also same with Oprah. In 1986 she was a random TV newscaster in Chicago who was absolutely obsessed with The Color Purple and she wanted to be a part of that in her heart so badly that she prayed on it and visualized being a part of the production in anyway possible (even so much as being a production assistant). One day music producer Quincy Jones (who didn't know her at all) was in town to testify for a trial and was watching the news one day in his hotel and saw Oprah and immediately thought she would be great for the part of Sophia, and out of the blue Oprah got a call from a casting director that wanted her to come in and audition. She auditioned and months went by where she got no response. Finally, dejected but still hopeful she went to a weight loss center and was one day logging on the track praying that God release this obsession in her mind of being a part of the film, just then a woman came out to the track and told her there was a phone call...that call was from Steven Spielberg telling her to be in LA the next day and she had the part. (http://ezinearticles.com/?Why-Oprah-is-So-Successful!&id=1528282)

All three are wonderful and powerful examples. I have not (yet) realized a true visualization come to fruition, but I know that it will in time. I believe that visualization needs to be genuine, good-spirited and not based in greed or self-righteousness to have it come to life. I will keep my dreams firmly alive and I hope everyone else does as well. "You only get out of life what you put into it" -- let's make it a wonderful life.

Totally! Just by labeling yourself as someone who claims that visualization isn't working, you are discrediting some of the things you have achieved thus far in your life. Any adventure you have been on, any business or career success or even any family win would have started with an idea in your mind. You were able to fulfill that vision in those scenarios. Just realize that some visions take longer to bring into reality than others.

Hey Justin
This whole subject is close to my heart, it's something that I have been grappling with for some time.
Visualisation doesn't appear to be working for me. Trying to figure out what I am doing wrong, it could be that I am lacking the faith in getting the results or maybe I am just taking the wrong actions to get what I desire, I think when we set out to achieve our goals some of us experience monkey chatter in our heads telling us that we are not good enough. The challenge is to close this chatter out and stay focused on the prize, sometimes easier said than done. Your insight on this subject is great, rather than becoming frustrated with the seemingly lack of progress I should be excited with the expectation of knowing that if my desire is strong enough backed with the right actions any thing is possible!
