When Feeling Grateful Is Difficult

Today’s post is an audio update…

Have you ever had a hard time ACTUALLY feeling grateful for all of the great things in your life? I have often found myself saying, “I know I should be grateful for what I have but I can’t…” and it usually happened when something was going wrong in my life.

If things aren’t going your way, gratitude may be one of the furthest emotions from your grasp.

Here is my solution:

I think we take the little things which we experience throughout our day too lightly. Having high expectations, I believe can override the little important things.

I have a hard time with ongoing gratitude…in the past I have found it very difficult to find things to be grateful for because just as you said I expect these little things anyways so why would I be grateful for something that is expected.

      Hey Carl

Thanks for your comments. Sounds like we are very similar in this department. Of course the first step is recognizing this in ourselves so we can become more appreciative of how much we actually have and the good fortune that surrounds us.

    Hey Justin,
a lot of what you are talking about really resonates with me.. I spent over 15 years in the corporate world making big money. I quit cos I had to work shiftwork and the unsocial hours were screwing with my head and my relationships and sending me on a mental course I didn’t like. I left and soon ran out of money cos I was so used to having so much, so easily,, I just took for granted that it would always be there. I started making money online, and I am in my 2nd year of trying to grown an internet business. Only recently I started to feel jigsaw pieces snap into place after a lot of time wasted “learning” and not enough “doing.”
I’m loving this blog – it’s so inspirational that when I woke at around 2.30 am this morning I got up and started work instead of trying to get back asleep.
Boy am I tired right now, but let’s see how far this rabbithole goes!

        Hey Dave

That’s awesome! Thanks for the great feedback and I’m really glad to hear that you are getting inspiration/motivation from this blog. That is my main goal so I know its working. I get up at 3am every day so I can relate to the tired feeling but its SO worth it when you are working on a major vision/purpose and you know each day you are inching closer 🙂
