Separating Emotion From Intellect During Conflict

In the phenomenal book “The 50th Law” by Robert Greene, he reveals the following quote…

Looking at people through the lens of your emotions will cloud what you see and make you misunderstand everything.

In today’s update, I talk about the importance of dealing with people and circumstances in a way that gives you more power and control. And one of the most important steps in doing this is your ability to detach from your emotions so that you can react/respond in a way that gives you the upper hand.

I can so relate to this Justin. I just returned from a two week trip with a friend that I had not traveled with previously and there were many many times where I had to check my emotions at the door and not react to her unreasonable outbursts and irrational responses to situations.

I took the time to see the reason behind her behavior, keep my emotions in check so as to not make for a most unpleasant trip. Sometimes not rising to the situation is the best response but one should learn from the situation so as to be prepared next time. 🙂 Thanks for the post.

      Hey Yvette

That’s an awesome example of implementing the message in this blog post. I’m somewhat ashamed to say I’ve been that nightmare companion in the past and for me it was TOTALLY a fear based reaction. Afraid of “missing something”, afraid of being taken advantage of, afraid of wasting time, etc…

I’m way better now lol. Glad to hear you were able to separate yourself from the drama of that. Its such a waste of energy

When you lose logic to emotions crazy things happen and sometimes we say and do things that stick with us for the long-term. I am glad you shared this message as it has been helpful.
