Redefining What Retirement Means

Right now there are tons of people who are reaching an age where they had expected to be able to retire. Unfortunately, after putting in years of hard work many people are nowhere near a point where they can retire comfortably with financial security.

This can be very hard on certain people and I feel for them.

But the bottom line is that this is the reality of the situation and feeling negative or defeated about it will do nothing to solve the problem. Today I’d like to share what I’ve learned by observing what’s happening to some folks in this position. And I’d like to share my new perception on what retirement really means…

AND why I NEVER intend on retiring:

Be Sociable, Share!

I’m at retiring age but am not planning on retiring. In fact I’ve set up a new website to help other retirees to design and establish their own retirement businesses.

I agree Justin that many will need to keep working. Me too. But many of us retirees also still feel clever and well enough to still make a meaningful contribution. Add in the way that we can now do that online at a much lower cost.

Our world is changing. Once 65 was considered old. Not anymore. There are any number of 70-80 year old’s running thriving businesses.

Awesome business idea John, well done! I think you will have no shortage of clients who need your help. I don’t remember the exact study or stat but I remember reading a few different times that entrepreneurs who start a business at age 55+ have a higher rate of success than any other age group. Combination of experience, skill, perspective.

There is a guy who lives on my street and he must be at least 65. I know he “retired” from his main job a number of years ago but he is always on the go. He is up before 4am every day on the road working (on some projects although I don’t know exactly what) and he always has dozens of home projects on the go. He has the energy of someone half his age (probably more) and it is really awesome to see.

Best of luck with your business I think its a great idea.
