For over 5 years, I have spent countless hours reading, researching and studying self improvement methodologies and concepts. There have been so many books and speakers who have had a positive impact on me and there is really no way to summarize everything that I have gained through their works.
But a common question I get is what books I recommend for people who want to learn more about themselves and improving their habits and creating a happier, more successful, more disciplined life.
Here are 10 books you absolutely must read if you ask me…
1. Psycho Cybernetics by Maxwell Maltz.
Possibly the best, most practical book on self improvement ever written. I recommend reading and listening to the audiobook multiple times. I have received real results by using this book.
2. Mastery by Robert Greene
An amazing book about how true masters have achieved their mastery in whatever field of work they went into. This book demystifies some of the misconceptions about real success.
3. 50th Law by Robert Greene
A book about self reliance that focuses on rapper 50 cent and his rise to power and success. The parallels between surviving and thriving as a drug hustler are amazingly similar to achieving success in life in general.
4. Unleash The Giant Within by Tony Robbins
Another book to read, bookmark and study multiple times. Tony Robbins is one of the all time greats when it comes to understanding human motivation and change.
5. Gifted Hands by Ben Carson
Ben Carson is one of the most successful and recognized neurosurgeons of all time. From very humble beginnings he built himself into an incredible success and saved many lives on his amazing journey.
6. Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill
Classic self improvement book a must read for everyone.
7. Excuses Begone by Wayne Dyer
Eye opening book by one of my favourite authors ever. This book makes you realize that EVERY excuse you have for not living to your true potential is ultimately a lie you have been buying into. This book created long lasting changes in my perceptions of the world.
8. The Success Principles by Jack Canfield
64 success principles collected, organized and put into a usable format by one of the most successful authors of all time.
9. The Secret to Success by Eric Thomas
Eric Thomas is probably the best motivational speaker I have ever followed in my life. He has probably had a bigger impact on me in my life than any other person I have ever read or studied.
10. The Power of Your Subconscious Mind by Joseph Murphy
Most people already understand how much the subconscious mind controls our behaviour. But very few people actually take time to learn how to change the subconscious and make it work in their favor. This classic book gives some very detailed advice on how the subconscious works and how to alter your habits and behaviours.
This list provides an interesting mix of styles and insights and of course, I could probably make a DOZEN additional lists and still not mention all of the great books I’ve read that have helped me.
But these are my top 10 (so far).
Have you read them?
Do you have a book that I left off that is a MUST read?
