Have you ever been guilty of pre-judging someone before getting to know them?

Do you take the time to meet new people, regardless of their background, and really take an interest in their life?

I have recently started doing more of this and it has been fascinating. You can really learn a lot about people and the world when you stop focusing on telling your story, and start focusing on learning more about others. I also happen to believe this is an amazing sales tactic because you establish relationships that can lead to friendships when you lead by showing interest in other people.

I will start this off by saying that ANYONE who wants to get into business for themselves must learn very quickly to move outside of their comfort zone. When you first start to do this, any tangible action will do because you are not accustomed to being uncomfortable.

Over time, your threshold for moving outside of your comfort zone will increase.

Having said that, I believe it is possible to cause damage or hurt your own success if you challenge your comfort zone recklessly. I give a prime example in my video today to at least give you something to think about.

Don’t get me wrong though. I still encourage that you err on the side of being bold over being timid. But you can still plan your comfort zone breaking activities so that they become of maximum benefit to you.

Another thing to consider regarding stretching your comfort zone. From personal experience, I know that some of my best business building moments came when I was trying new things (i.e. uncomfortable things). The most successful actions were ones that came on advice from advisers. If you are going to take some bold, comfort zone stretching action, consider getting some expert advice so that you are maximizing your efforts.

When I work with various coaching clients, I generally notice that they have a tendency to fit into one of 2 categories. They are either Spectators by nature or they are achievers by nature. What do I mean.

Check out the following presentation and then decide which category you fall into. People who read this blog are most likely in the achiever category because they take action. But perhaps you can relate to this discussion. What do you think of this whole spectator vs. achiever discussion?

Here’s a quick video I shot to help anyone realize that every problem is also an opportunity. This is a pure fact and a law of our universe. It is up to you to seek out the opportunity in a negative situation and focus your energy and attention on that positive angle.

In this post, I had to get some stuff off my chest about a topic I’m sure 99.9% of the readers will have some experience with… worrying about what people think of you. We’ve all done it at some point and to a degree, it is a very natural thing to do.

The problem occurs when this worry is expressed as a self limiting action or belief that prevents us from doing things that we want to do in our lives.

I put this video together after a few conversations with friends about the idea of good habits versus bad habits. I know there are many personal development and self improvement books and systems that talk about habit creation. I have heard that habits can be created in as few as 26 day. I have also heard that 90 days of repeated action can ingrain a habit into your life.

While I do believe some of the rationale behind this, I have had a hard time seeing this in attempts to apply it in my own life. For me, success habits require a lifetime of commitment. You cannot stamp a habit with a 90 threshold. It is about the life you want to create and the lifestyle you want to live.

I was listening to Bob Proctor tell a story about Ben Hogan and his journey as a professional golfer. If you don’t know the Ben Hogan story, you should check it out. It is unbelievable! You’ll learn more in the video below.

The underlying message in the story is about giving yourself permission to take action in your life. To avoid waiting for validation from others before you go after a dream or inner desire.
